As one of our newest Members, Georgia Hi-Lo Trail is brand new, starting in April 2019, even though the idea has been in the works for 4 years!
They are building America’s longest paved multi-use trail from Athens to Savannah, Ga (through Sandersville) to empower rural people. As they build this trail, they offer community programs to empower the next generation with the skills they need. Developing this trail will create an economic engine and community gathering place that the entire community can enjoy and benefit from (economically and physically) for generations to come! Our May 2019 Business After Hours was held right here at the Chamber of Commerce!
Attendees enjoyed delicious food provided by Loose Sugar Bakery and had the privilege of viewing the grand opening of the Fall Line Artist Guild's 2019 Student Art Show. May BAH was sponsored by FLAG & Loose Sugar Bakery. One of our newest Members, James' Barber Shop, all began in 1961 when the owner began working as an apprentice. He worked in two shops located in Tennille, GA for other proprietors before opening his own shop in Sandersville, GA in 1973.
James' Barber Shop specializes in basic haircuts, flat tops, and beard and mustache trims! Their favorite part of working in Washington County is talking to long-time customers and friends, and making new ones along the way. They have enjoyed serving Washington County and have had the privilege of giving many people in the community their very first haircut! Owner, Ann M., graciously hosted an Open House and Ribbon Cutting for Lavender Country House in Tennille, GA, with networking, delicious refreshments, and a special home tour.
This brand new Bed & Breakfast features comfortable accommodations, incredible English breakfasts, and a friendly smile! Businesses, if you have business travelers and need lodging, give Lavender Country House a call! For the month of May, we're celebrating National Small Business Week!
Starting Monday of next week, we'll be thanking and showcasing our Small Business Members, who are at the heart of Washington County. Stay tuned for fun things to come! Headed by the Washington County Farm Bureau, the Chamber worked to promote April as Anti Litter Month.
The City of Tennille, the City of Davisboro, the City of Sandersville, the Citizens Bank of the South, and the Georgia Department of Transportation all strove to help keep our communities beautiful with initiatives such as Trash Amnesty Day. We even made a few videos highlighting their anti litter efforts! The videos had over 5,000 views! |
