As we continue to monitor COVID 19, the Kaolin Festival committee would like to give you an update on what the festival will look like this year (as of now). You can expect a Friday night concert, Saturday night concert, and the annual parade. We also are working hard to continue other aspects of the festival such as the mine tours, heavy equipment displays, and cruise-in. We want to continue this annual tradition in the safest manner possible for participants, attendees, and our community. We will continue to monitor safety precautions and executive orders, but for now this is the plan. Parade Applications will be available July 13th on our website.
In the fall of 1956, Washington County staged the first Kaolin Festival, a celebration that has continued today. The first festival, chaired by Howard Sheppard, featured a golf tournament, Kaolin mine or plant tours, a street dance, and a parade. The annual Kaolin Festival has grown over the years to become a staple to Washington County. Although the festival is held the 2nd weekend in October each year, it has grown to include a plethora of events, beginning as early as the first of September and continuing through October. We are very proud of the history and heritage of Washington County as well as the industry that has grown over the years to make this county what it is today. Come join us and enjoy a parade, arts and crafts vendors, great food, mine tours, a children’s carnival, friendly competition on the events field, live entertainment, and more!
